If you were a fly on the wall in my household on an average night, you’d hear the guitar, piano, the saxophone and voices harmonizing. Music is my world. It has given me and my family amazing opportunities to bring people together, to share creativity, and to inspire and be inspired by those around us.
I have lived in beautiful Bend Oregon for 16 years and have been planning “events” for over 20 years. My family and I moved to Bend for my husband’s job, Music Director at COCC in 2003, when our triplets were 10 weeks old. Yes, you read that correct, TRIPLETS. That was not a typo. In 2007 we added our +1, our singleton, to complete our family of 6.
In 2009 my husband and I co-founded The Bend Children’s Choir, www.bendchildrenschoir.com. We saw there was a need for more music options for elementary age kids outside of school. We wanted a place where all kids felt welcome and encouraged to explore the arts. Our hope is that they will continue their journey with the arts whether they are the performer, the creator, or the appreciator; that they would see their place in their community and how crucial the arts are to the health of a community.
In 2018 my husband went on a music sabbatical and we were able to immerse ourselves in Bends Sister City in Belluno, Italy. During our semester away in Belluno we joined a running club, our kids were involved in a language school, and my husband joined the local choir. We fell in love with the community and made life-long friendships.
Music has given me amazing opportunities to experience culture, creativity, and community and I am looking forward to bringing that experience to The Haven. As the new Event Coordinator, I can’t wait to talk with you about how I can help support you and your event at The Haven.
