So, you’re settling into remote work and loving the flexibility. Who wouldn’t? But you sometimes hit a wall and need to reset and recharge during the day. Luckily, The Haven sits near dozens of places to refresh your creative energy or simply take a brain break during the summertime in Bend.
1. Deschutes River Trail
Something that makes The Haven so special is its proximity to the Deschutes River Trail – Old Mill Reach. After all, the coworking space sits on the bluffs overlooking the river itself! Trail access is next door near the EDCO building, and the trail loops over and around the Deschutes River heading southbound. Grab your earbuds or simply enjoy the sounds of nature while strolling this popular Bend trail over the summer.

2. Farewell Bend Park
Just across the river from The Haven, Farewell Bend Park is a convenient and close-by spot to take an outdoor break. Its sprawling lawn and benches make a great area for resting your work brain and taking a screen break. Additionally, the park includes a riverside “beach” where park-goers can sunbathe or dip their toes in the calm river waters.
3. Old Mill District
In need of a little retail therapy? Bend’s Old Mill District is just minutes away! Visit local Sisters Coffee for a specialty drink and lunch before stopping by some of the diverse shops. For those with a little extra time, consider a massage or hair appointment at one of the spas for a deeper refresh.

4. Bend Whitewater Park
For the remote workers who need a little more action to recharge, head to Bend Whitewater Park. Kayak, tube, stand-up paddle, or river surf the rapids along this designated area of the Deschutes River. You’ll have your adrenaline pumping and feeling refreshed before taking that next work call! Haven members can rent stand-up paddle boards for up to two hours as a membership perk—just ask for details at the front desk!

5. McKay Park
Not looking to get wet? No problem! McKay Park, which sits adjacent to the Bend Whitewater Park, is a great place to find a little tranquility. Walk along the paths that encircle the nearby neighborhoods, grab a good book, or watch the river surfers hit the waves.
6. Jackson’s Corner
This old town Bend restaurant is an institution! Situated in the historic “Whiskey Flats” neighborhood, Jackson’s Corner serves as a refuge with farm-to-table dining, mocktails and cocktails, indoor and outdoor seating, plus a menu that will satisfy any foodie. Their historic Delaware Avenue location serves everything from brunch to supper, including grab-and-go goodies like sandwiches, kombucha, and wine.
7. The Haven Deck
When you don’t have the time to walk or drive (or jump in the river), just head downstairs to the deck for river views and plenty of vitamin D. The deck is partially shaded and has chairs, tables, and lounge seating. During the summer, come by for yoga sessions on the deck—free for Haven members and $10 for non-members. So, grab a drink from the Café and watch the passersby of the Deschutes River Trail below the treeline while you unplug.

8. Easy Float
A short drive from The Haven, Easy Float offers float therapy inside their sensory deprivation tanks (it’s a lot more relaxing than it sounds!). Soak and float in an Epsom salt water tank, creating buoyancy and physical relaxation. Haven members get exclusive pricing on float therapy, so be sure to mention your membership for a special perk!
9. Box Factory
Just a few blocks away, the Box Factory offers ways to recharge from Pure Barre workouts to lunches at spots like Valentine’s Deli, Immersion Brewing, and Fix & Repeat. If your time and circumstances allow, check out their wine bars, which include Stoller Wine Bar and Bend Wine Bar. Shop specialty goods at Borgo Rosati and Merryweather, or get a clean fade from Westside Barber.
10. Mt. Bachelor
While not particularly close by, Mt. Bachelor is just up the Cascade Lakes Highway from The Haven and offers almost year-round activities. During the winter and spring, hit the slopes in the early morning and be back at work for your first meeting. In the summer, check out their hiking trails, scenic chair lift rides, ziplining adventures, and mountain biking park.
