Spring has finally arrived in Central Oregon, and The Haven’s riverfront location is ideal for enjoying the sunshine or accessing nearby amenities. Check out these (mostly free) outdoor springtime activities for Haven members!
Lunch on the Deck
As the days get longer, try allowing yourself an extended lunch break. The Haven’s deck, overlooking the Deschutes River and Old Mill River Trail, is just the spot to do so. With outdoor furniture and an overhang for extra warm days, our deck is a great spot to enjoy your lunch.
If you need a last-minute lunch run, try takeout from one of the Old Mill District’s eateries or purchase a grab-and-go item from our fridge. All of our HydroFlask drinkware is permitted on the deck, and member Wi-Fi extends outside if you need to make it a lunch meeting.
Join The Haven’s Run Club
Haven member Brenton Breed is in charge of managing our Run Club. Join him and other members for a walk or run on the following days, rain or shine. All running and walking levels are welcome!
Tuesdays at noon, members meet at the front desk for a 2-mile run. It’s an excellent opportunity to take a midday break or get your body moving before lunchtime.
Thursdays at 4:30 pm, members meet at the front desk for a 3-mile run. Why not finish your day workday strong with an afternoon run along the Old Mill River Trail?
Take a Stretch Break
Instead of reaching for a midday cup of coffee, try naturally increasing your energy by getting your muscles moving and blood flowing. Every Wednesday and Friday at 1:30 p.m., our Community Desk staff facilitates a guided stretch break to help you get through the midday slump. On warmer days, stretches are held outside on the deck. On cooler days or during an early summer storm, stretching occurs in the downstairs space. We’ll provide the yoga mats!
Member Happy Hour
Now that the weather’s warming up, we’re excited to move our popular monthly happy hour to the deck. Enjoy music, complimentary drinks, and overall good vibes when you join us for happy hour. Additionally, members can bring along a plus-one! Simply log in to your member portal or Haven app to RSVP.
Rent an Electric Bike
Riding a Bend Electric Bike is a fun way to visit the Bend Farmer’s Market, explore the Old Mill District, or simply get some fresh air—while avoiding the traffic. Haven members can check out an electric bike Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
First, reserve the electric bike in your member portal. Then, sign a waiver at the Front Desk to check out the bike. The best part? It’s free! Bikes must be returned and checked in by 6 p.m.
Paddle the River
One of the best perks of The Haven is its proximity to the Deschutes River. With our members-use inflatable Stand On Liquid paddleboards, it’s easy to take a screen break and experience the blue mind phenomenon—the notion that suggests being in, on, or around water is therapeutic to our brains and the antidote to red mind, which stems from too much screen time.
After reserving your paddleboard and electric pump in the member portal, check out the equipment with the front desk. Later, you can rinse off and get back to work mode using our showers and towel service.
If you’re interested in reserving the deck for a private event, please contact our Executive Director, Tiffany White, to reserve the space. Haven members always receive a discounted rate.
